In the years 2005 over 40+ million people worldwide lived with the HIV virus. The question of, "where did it come from" and how is it the cuase of this AIDS pandemic has intreuged the Scientific Community quite some time.
Yeah, none of you can deny it... in one way or another we all have had our own affiliations with AIDS....
This bieng stated, a group of researchers traveled to the Congo Basin in search for some specific Chimpanzees who are said to be carriers of this AIDS virus, yet what they found was a new Virus called SIV (simian immunodeficiency virus) inhabitant in some wild Gorillas. By studing there fecal matter, these researchers were able to find some antibodies against this virus.
Very Interesting indeed, is it not?
Now, this brings up a very important question; The fact that a sister virus tu HIV was found in these grate apes could mean that they were somehow infected with this virus by chimpanzee's or Vise/versa? But which of these infected Human beings?
This work thus opens up a Pandora's box on the questions and speculations concerning the ability of these viruses to cross over from one species to another.
